Since 2003, the Department of History, Archaeology and Cultural Resources Management harmonizes the traditional sciences of History and Archaeology with the contemporary scientific field of Cultural Administration, thus having become the first academic department in Greece that combined these sciences at the undergraduate level.

Informed theoretical and methodological perspectives as well as field-work enhance the programmes’ educational and research impact. The cutting-edge profile of the Department is further supported by different laboratories while it benefits from the University Museum and Teaching Collection.

National Observatory of Athens

The National Observatory of Athens is the first research Institution created in Greece (1842) after its liberation from the Ottomans (1828). Its facilities facing the Parthenon and Thission constitute a landmark of Athens; they have long been used by Greek and foreign Astronomers as the basis for astronomical, meteorological, chartographical and geodynamical measurements and observations in the more than 170 years long course of its history. Today the buildings of NOA at Thission include an Astrogeophysics Museum, housing clocks, telescopes and other instruments of the 19th century, as well as an extensive 19th century library.

MSc CultTech collaborates with the Institute of Environmental Research and Sustainable Development.
